WHAT'S PILATES?
“10 times you feel the difference, 20 times you look different, 30 times you change everything”
by Joseph Pilates
What is Pilates?
What kind of exercise is it?
Pilates is a physical conditioning method that was invented by the German Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1883-1967) under the name "Contrology" for the purpose of rehabilitating wounded soldiers during World War I.
Pilates is now popular all over the world and is increasingly being adopted in the medical field.
This exercise involves focusing on breathing, core strength, and inner muscles, and is said to be effective in improving posture, relieving chronic pain such as stiff shoulders and lower back pain, preventing injuries, and improving sports performance.
What types of Pilates are there?
Pilates can be easily categorized into
There are two types of Pilates: machine Pilates and mat Pilates.
Machine Pilates
Machine Pilates uses special equipment such as the "Reformer," "Cadillac," and "Chair" to provide a variety of stimuli to the body.
The intensity can be adjusted, so it can be used by a wide range of people, from beginners to advanced users.
Mat Pilates
Mat Pilates involves exercises performed on a mat using your own weight.
Since you cannot adjust the intensity like with machines, some exercises require core strength and high flexibility.
In our group lessons we do mat Pilates, but for beginners we reduce the intensity and provide safe exercises that anyone can do.
Pilates is recommended for these people!
